ALL SUMMER IN A DAY
Oakland School for the Arts high school students bring in the New Year with the creation of an original musical, based on the Ray Bradbury short story, All Summer in a Day. The performance will be presented through Shotgun Players Make A Difference (MAD) program and is presented by an all youth creative team and cast.
About All Summer in a Day: The 1954 short story by Bradbury is a Science Fiction story, and is often required reading for middle school students. All Summer in a Day, details the lives of schoolchildren who were born on Venus by Earthling parents. The world is dark and rainy and morose because the sun only comes out once every seven years, and the children, now nine, were too young to remember the sun. One classmate, Margot, who had come from Ohio when she was four, remembers the sun, but nobody believes her.
Tickets are complimentary with a suggested donation (at the door) that will be used to pay for associated performance expenses, such as costumes and lighting technician. Immediately following each performance, audience members are invited to stay for a post-performance Q&A with the musicals creators, actors and a member of Shotgun Players MAD program.
